The Security and Risk Certificate program is open to currently enrolled students who wish to increase employability. The program is beneficial to Cybercriminology and Security Studies BS majors who want additional hands-on learning in information systems security, risk analysis, incident response, disaster recovery, and cyber threat analysis. Students should consult with their advisors before enrolling in courses to ensure suitability and to plan their program of study.

Program Highlights

In the Security and Risk Certificate program, you will learn traditional information security and risk analysis through a hands-on approach. The program allows students to participate in risk mitigation activities and to learn laws and regulations in all areas of information security, including systems security, network infrastructure, access control, assessments and audits, cryptography, and organizational security. This certificate is excellent preparation for certifications in Security and Risk, Information Systems Security, Incident Response and Disaster Recovery, and Cyber Threat Analysis.

Courses

The Security and Risk Certificate program consists of 12 credits covering four courses focused on security and risk analysis, information systems security, incident response and disaster recovery, and cyber threat analysis. The program encourages students to participate in risk mitigation activities, and to provide infrastructure, application, information, and operational security. In addition, students apply security controls to identify appropriate technologies and products, troubleshoot security events and incidents, and assess security operations.

Transfer Credit

Indiana State University accepts credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities within the United States, and from selected schools located outside the United States. Credit also may be granted for military training and experience. Previously earned college credit can be applied toward completion of the program per these transfer guidelines.
