Program Availability
The Nonprofit Leadership Certificate program is open to currently enrolled students who wish to increase their employability. The program is especially suited for students in the Department of Political Science, business students, students in the Multidisciplinary BA/BS program, and students interested in nonprofit leadership, civic leadership, and related fields. Students should consult with their advisors before enrolling in courses to ensure suitability and to plan their program of study.

Program Highlights
In the Nonprofit Leadership Certificate program, you will learn the ins and outs of nonprofit administration and leadership. Nonprofit organizations comprise a highly diverse sector of the economy and address needs and issues related to health services, education, social and legal services, civic and environmental advocacy, international relations and development, arts and culture, and faith-based, youth, and human services. Indiana State’s Nonprofit Leadership Certificate program provides training for students to lead teams at these nonprofit organizations.
Courses
The Nonprofit Leadership Certificate program consists of nine credits covering three courses focused on volunteer engagement, the fundamentals of fundraising, and advanced nonprofit administration. The program’s curriculum features topics in volunteer supervision, program evaluation, capital campaigns, annual and planned giving, nonprofit governance, strategic planning, partnerships, public policy, community outreach, and related topics in nonprofit leadership.
Transfer Credit
Indiana State University accepts credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities within the United States, and from selected schools located outside the United States. Credit also may be granted for military training and experience. Previously earned college credit may be applied toward completion of the program.
Career Possibilities
Successful completion of the Nonprofit Leadership Certificate program prepares you for nonprofit leadership roles such as development director, fundraiser, volunteer coordinator, communication director, human resource officer, philanthropy director, program manager, grant writer, community health director, business office supervisor, compliance director, campaign manager, corporate giving manager, and related roles. You will also be prepared for a variety of graduate degree programs.
Additionally, the Public Administration Program is currently a member of the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) and is associated with the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA).
